OUTLINE OF CAREERS Mr H. R. H. Chalmers, who has been appointed general manager of the Bank of New Zealand entered the service of the Bank of New Zealand at Te Awamutu in 1899 and. after holding positions in various branches, was appointed accountant at Eltham. He then served at Suva and on return to the Dominion from the war entered the Gisborne branch of the bank. He was then at Auckland, Dannevirke and Palmerston North, going to Auckland again as assistant-manager in 1928. He was appointed manager at Auckland about two years later, taking up the post in December, 1930. when the then manager. Mr F. W. Dawson, left for Wellington to fulfil the duties of assistant-general manager. Mr Chalmers took up the position of chief inspector of the bank in 1933 and later in the same year became assistant general manager. Mr Porter was born at Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay. and joined the Bank of New Zealand in 1904 at Queenstown. In 1932 Mr Porter was promoted from assistant manager to manager in Christchurch.
