GERMAN AIMS.
THE FIRST HARVEST
DEMAND FOR COLONIES LIKELY DR. GOEBBELS’ FRANK SPEECH (Untied Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Oct. 22. 3 p.m.) BERLIN. Oct, 21 Dr. Goebbels. in a speech, revealed the background of Germany’s policy during the crisis. He said: “ We intended a quiet summer, like a boa constrictor wanted, to digest what we had eaten, but our opponents did not size us up adequately. The fact that they thought us weak proved a great success for us. The luck was certainly with the Fuehrer, but he also had a cool head and strong nerves. To-day we reap the first harvest, but we are equally sure to achieve our new aims if we set -ourselves to them. “ The Powers sent negotiators not understanding that there was no chance for negotiations. When Herr Hitler stated his case clearly at Nuremberg everyone knew that “ now the pie is ready.*’ We could beat them at their own game. “ Some say It was a miracle, but the German man-1 n-the-street Is now accustomed to political miracles and asks casually, 1 When will the colonies be served up?’ We say, ‘By such and such a day we will get what is ours or draw the sword.’
“ That works. Others bluff and concentrate on a big fleet, but finally come along because they do not want bloodshed.”
