A DANCER IN HASTE.
BY AIR TO AUSTRALIA BALLET SEASON IN MELBOURNE The dancer, Anton Dolin, paused for five minutes in Sydney on his way from London to Melbourne. He is now dancing with the Russian Ballet company at His Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne. His hasty dash from England was made necessary by an accident which occurred to David Llchine. According to the original plans, Lichine was to have appeared in the ballet on the opening night, and Dolin to have joined the company in a few days. But Lichine sprained an ankle. The airliner from Brisbane was due In Sydney at 2 o’clock and the Melbourne plane was to depart at 2.30. But head-winds delayed the arrival until 2.45. Dolin had just time to pose for the photographers, say a few words to reporters, and climb into the airliner for Melbourne. First Artist Brought by Air This is the first time the J. G. Williamson management has brought an artist to Australia 'by air.
Dolin said that he had just finished a successful season with Alicia ‘Markova in a specially organised company. Markova had now gone to America with the Massine ballet.
“I hope to bring her to Australia in a year or two,” said Air Dolin.
