FAREWELL PARTY
PRESENTATIONS AT TE UKU MR AND MRS J. H. DENT HONOURED A farewell dance was tendered Mr and Mrs J. 11. Dent, at Te Uku, recent]y. The function was held in the district hall, which had been very attractively decorated for the occasion. There was a large number of friends present, who enjoyed dancing during the evening. Before supper Mr W. Moore, on behalf of the Kauroa residents, paid tribute to Mr and Mrs Dent, who had been residents of the district for thirty years. Mr Dent had taken a leading part in the hall committee and other functions, and Mrs Dent had assisted in many ways. Mr F. C. .Johnstone, of YVaitetuna, also paid tribute to the part the guests of honour had taken in district, affairs. Mr F. Peart expressed appreciation f the guests of the evening, on half of Okete residents. Mrs "NY. .Moore presented Mrs Dent with a dressing table set and bouquet on behalf of the members of the Women's Institute, of which Mrs Dent was secretary for seven years. The Institute also presented Mr Dent with a chromium cigarette, box for auditing the hooks and assisting in numerous ways. The school children made the presentation of a beautiful dish to Mrs Dent as a mark of appreciation. Mr W. Lusty, on behalf of the residents of Te Uku and surrounding districts, made the presentation of a silver tea service to the guests of the evening and referred to the loss sustained by the district in their departure.
