DOMINION TOURNEY THE OPENING GAMES (By Telegraph.—press Association) GISBORNE, Sunday The Dominion ladies’ hockey tournament opened in drizzling rain. A surprise was recorded when Auckland defeated Wellington by a four-goal margin, the winners impressing by their speed and positional play. Eastern overwhelmed R.uahine, the score reaching 13 goals. Auckland, Eastern and Canterbury appear to be the strongest teams in the tournament. Results were as follows: A Section.—Hawke's Bay 1, Wanganui. 1; Ashburton, 5, Wairarapa, 0.
