Constable C. B. Carson has been transferred from the Mount Eden station to Hamilton. Mr J. W. Bailey has left Auckland to judge the elocution section of the Dunedin competitions festival. The health of Mr Neville Chamberlain, British Prime Minister, continues to improve, says a message from London. Messrs A. Mitchison, W. Coogan (Auckland), J. H. White, H. H. White (New Plymouth), and W. Curtia (Hawera) are at the Midland Hotel. Messrs H. Sinclair, E. S. H. Edwards (Wellington), S. B. Macdonald (Auckland; and M. McGillbray (Southland) are at the Hamilton Hotel. The Rev. Father J. E. Eccleton, parish priest at Tauranga, will leave Auckland to-day lor a holiday visit to the Dutch East indies and Singapore. Professor J. Shelley is acting as judge at the annual festival ot the W ciikiglou Area of the British Drama League. Mr Courtney Biggs, officer in charge uf the Forestry Department in North Auckland, has been appointed conservator of the Canterbury district, with headquarters at Christchurch. The Rev. D. C. He'Ton, uf Knox Church, Dunedin, has been granted 10 months' leave of absence for next year to enable him to exchange pulpits with the Rev. J. E. Penman, of North Mereliiston, Edinburgh. Messrs D. H. Cockburn (Queenstown), W. Doig (Papakaio) and J. D. Revie Heriot) have been elected to represent utago on the electoral comm.ttee of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. Among to-day’s passengers by the Jlying-boat service from England says a message from Darwin, is Mr G. A. Pascoe, acting commissioner of the steel industry in New Zealand, who hopes to connect with the Awatea at Sydney next Monday for New Zealand. Superintendent S. Till, who has been in charge of the Auckland Police District lor the last eight years, having completed 40 years’ service, will officially retire on November 14, and began his final leave on Monday. Mr Till was stationed in Hamilton some years ago. His successor at Auckland has not been announced.
