MATAMATA RACING CLUB

WINTER MEETING VARIETY IN FROCKING POPULARITY OF BLACK The sun which shone at intervals throughout the day provided excellent conditions for the winter meeting of the Matamata Racing Club held at the Matamata course on Saturday. Except for a few showers in the late afternoon, perfect winter weather prevailed. With a large contingent of patrons from Matamata and numbers of town and country visitors, the scene on the lawns was an animated one. The popularity of black was evident when ensembles in this shade were worn by many of the women patrons. Green, tan, and petunia shades als.o had many followers vicing with the varying shades of blue which were also favoured. Furs for warmth were much in evidence, on-d many beautiful coats and capes were to be seen. As always, brown and navy tailored Suits were practical yet smart. The more tailored type of hat was not noticeable on Saturday, The smaller toques and berets were popular, and Glengarry caps were also to be seen. Among those present were:—Mcsdames B. C.
