QUIET STOCK SALE
VALUEB AT FRANKTON SLOW SHEEP MARKET The market at the weekly Frankton stock sale to-day was hardly as buoyant as last week although there was no marked recession in values. Beef was sometimes a shade easier, while fat sheep were often difficult to trade The entry of steers consisted mainly of light-weight sorts for which the demand was steady. While many pens sold at late rates, price changes for others were in the buyers’ favour. There was better quality beef in the cow and heifer section but here again competition was sometimes subdued and values were occasionally lower. A light average entry of fat sheep did not meet a demand equal to that of last week and while quotations for wethers were not materially altered there was a distinct slump for ewes. Little alteration was apparent for fat lambs. No heavy prime baconers were penned and light descriptions of this cia-*s met with a slack trade. Porkers, however, generally sold at recent r%tes. Quotations: Medium prime steers, £l2 15s to £l4 ss; small. £ll to £li 17s 6d: small. £8 to £log ss; prime cows and heifers. £ R to £9 1 Os; smaller. £6 10s to £7 18s; killable. £4 to £5 10s: prime wethers, 30s to 32s fat, 27s 6d to 29s 6s; unfinished, 2 6d to 26s Od; fat ewes, 18 S 6d to 23s 3d; fat lambs. 18s Od to 24s Gd; porkers. 30s to 60s.
