FIXED TARIFF SCHEME PHARMACY BODY’S ANALYSIS • SURVEY OF THE INDUSTRY (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Since it was appointed five months ago to control the pharmacy trade in New Zealand under the Industrial Efficiency Act. the Pharmacy Industrial Committee has heard a number of applications for licenses and transfe s of existing licenses. u»f importance to the trade and the Public is the fact that the committee has made an extensive analysis of drug prices with a view to' establishing a Dominion drug tariff. In a statement to members of the retail pharmacy trade, Mr E. R. Myers, the director of a pharmacy, states that the fixing of the prices of drugs is regarded as a matter of urgency and an endeavour is being made to submit a scheme to the Government for adoption before June 2i. Wholesale merchants have been approached and the costs and prices of 1500 items have been analyse*! to arrive at a basis for recommendation to the Government. “Fast on the heels of the drug tariff will come a survey," says Mr Myers. “It is intended shortly to issue a questionnaire which will be very comprehensive and will put the committee in a strong position to speak on the condition of pharmacy affairs anywhere in the Dominion."
