June 12 Commemorating the 5000 officers and men of German submarines who lost their lives in the Great War, a 70ft. column was dedicated to-day in Kiel Bay. It replaces a smaller memorial. Two stone halls adjoin tlie column, one containing a sculpture :led:ca:ed to the crew of a sinking submarine,* and the other enshrining four books in which are inscribed in gold letters the names of the dead.
