RACE PURITY

DECLARED A FICTION PRELATE'S PRONOUNCEMENT (Times Air Mail Service) LONDON, May 21 “We are all of very mixed breed,” comments the Bishop of Chelmsford, Dr. Henry Wilson, writing on the persecution of non-Aryans in Germany and Austria. “There is a fiction,” he writes m the “Diocesan Chronicle," “that there is such a thing as pure Aryan blood, and to preserve this pure Aryan blood ftiom contamination anyone of Jewish parentage or grandparentage is regarded as a corrupting ingredient in the national life, since he will be a handicap in the production of the pure Aryan stock which is so greatly deSir “Scient!(lc men ridicule this absurd theory, for we. are all of us, a very mixed" breed indeed. , “However that may be, this theory, combined with the natural hatred and, perhaps, one should add. Jealousy, of the Jews, whose intellectual and financial ability is pre-eminent, means in practice that life is not worth living for anyone of Jewish parentage in Germany. “Ever since the present regime began these unhappy people have been bullied, harried, insulted, mocked, robbed, driven mad or forced into suicide as the only way out of iheir miseries. ... " Their fate is even worse than that ~f the dogs. One cannot but feel that I his kind of thing will bring its punishment with it. Probably the worst feature of this persecution is the effect that it will have on Iheir children.”
