MOTHERS’ DAY FUNCTION CHURCH OF ENGLAND MEMBERS An enjoyable afternoon was given by the members of the Church of England, Ngaruawahia, on Monday afternoon, when they entertained members of the other denominations in the Parish Hall. The afternoon was held in commemoration of Mothers’ Day. During the afternoon a musical programme was enjoyed, those contributing being Mrs C. E. Wilson, Mrs King, Mrs Mear, Mrs Martin and Mrs Prickett. The accompanist was Mrs R. B. Gerring. The Rev. A. Bott, Archdeacon Raiti and Mr Hughes were present and spoke interestingly. The presentation was made of a beautiful bouquet and handkerchief to Mrs McCowan, the oldest mother present, and Mrs Prickett received a box of chocolates, as the youngest mother. J. Wilson, N. Paterson, Worm, Smith, Brown. TENNIB CLOSING DAY An enjoyable closing day was held on the tennis courts recently. Mixed foursomes were played, and the presentation of the senior and junior cups, which Ngaruawahia had been successful in winning, were made by the president, Mr 11. D. Sampson, who complimented the players upon their •uccess.
