She cleared the Wanganelln. but her anchor and cable fouled the mooring lines of the cruiser, which snapped like threads, the warship being dragged away from the wharf and her propeller struck the concrete piles. The stern of the Bangatlra swung round and there was an ominous crash as her upper structure struck the bow of the cruiser. With her anchor drag£lng, th*> Achilles swung away from the wharf as the Bangatlra shot away. Minor damage only was done to the superstructure of the Hangatira. which proceeded on her way to Lyttelton. It is expected that the cruiser will have to be docked for repairs.
