BUBTENANCE SYSTEM MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) WANGANUI, Monday John Patrick Behin was fined £6 on each of three charges of obtaining sustenance by false statements at • Christchurch in 1936 and £4 on a similar charge at Wellington in 1937 by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., who remarked that it had been repeatedly pointed out that the sustenance system calls for the utmost good faith on the part of those who benefit by it and was open to abuse. A man must not be allowed to profit by misstatements made to obtain relief. The amount involved was £22 13s 9d.
