MAN LOSES LIFE FISH INO PARTY’S ORDEAL (Special to Time#) PALMERSTON N., Monday Mr. V. C. Laird (44), of Palmerston North, married, with one son, was drowned off Manawatu Heads on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Laird was a member of the flshinar party whose launch was disabled by shipping a heavy sea, and which later was towed by another launch, to Kapitl. During an attempt to cross the bar a large wave broke over the craft and swept Mr. Laird Into the sea. His companions threw everything that might support a man In the water, but he was not seen again. MAN SWEPT OFF LAUNCH (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND. Tuesday Mr. Alfred William Tisch (65), married, a resident of Onehunga, was drowned yesterday while crossing the Manukau Bar in the Ashing launch Almora. A heavy sea broke over the launch and swept Mr. Tisch out of the cockpit. His companions were unable to effect a rescue. TRAGEDY IN RIVER LEVIN, Monday Nepia Tamahana (17) was drowned while bathing In the Manawatu River this tfternoon. A younger brother who was with him was rescued with difficulty. ___
