DISTRICT GRAND MASTER
ELECTION OF WOMAN As a sequel to the election of Miss E. R. McFarlane as District Grand Master of Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows at a conference held recently in Wellington, Sister Wallis Lodge, of which Sister McFarlane is a member, entertained about a hundred guests from lodges in the Wellington district, at a special meeting, says an exchange. As this is the first occasion on which a woman member of the order has held this position in any district attached to the New Zealand branch, there was a very distinguished and representative gathering present to honour the occasion. The Most Noble Grancl, Sister M. Alloway, presented the District Grand Master with a bouquet, and Bros. Shrimpton 'Grand Secretary). A. C. Blair (Immediate Past Grand Master). and W. I. Clark (Grand Trustee), congratulated the new D.G.M. Bro. Stewart, Immediate Past District Grand Master, and the Deputy District Grand Master (Bro. Craddock), and other representatives commented on the esteem in which Sister McFarlane was held throughout the district. At the conclusion of the meeting a dance was held, supper being served in a prettily decorated room, the colour scheme being purple and gold.
