Stembridge presided at tne i twelfth annual meeting or the Listow ‘ branch or the >'ew Zealand Farmers’ I Union. i By request, Mr W. C. Kennedy, chalr- , man of the Piako county council, gave an i outline of the proposed district water eup- ' ply scheme. An estimate or the cost or installation, area to be served, and quantity or water available had been compiled by the county engineer, Mr B. H. Homer. The initial cost would be £75,000 to serve 35,000 acres, witn a pipe line or 7 5 miles. The engineer was or tne opinion that water could be supplied at about is i per 1000 gallons. The following resolution was passed un--1 anlmpusly: -That we affirm the desirability j of having good water, out recommend tne ' county council to obtain a complete ami l thorough survey or the proposed water (scheme, before committing the ratepayers i to it.” : Mr Kennedy vas accorded a vote or thanks Tor his explanation or tne scheme.
