AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS MERCER CREWS PERFORM WELL (Special to Times AUCKLAND, Monday Although condition* on the Auckland Harbour yesterday were unfavourable, particularly for river rowers, the Mercer Rowing Club crews performed well in the annual championship regatta of the Auckland Rowing Association which had been postponed from Saturday owing to inclement weather The Mercer crews gained £7 of the cash donations, being second in aggregate points to the Waitemata Club which has been the most successful performer throughout the season. Waitemata gained £l7. The championships were decided on the Hobson Bay course. The maiden eights were not contested while th* race to decide representation at the inter-provincial eights at Wanganui on Easter Monday may be contested during the week. Mercer (J. Mcßobbie. Charles McRobbie, C. Mcßobbie, and H. Morey) gained first place tn the Juniors Fours, ihtrs annexing the Seale Cup. The club figured prominently in heats in the other events. Results were: Youths’ Fours (Nash Cup;—flrsl heat: Waitemata 1, Tauranga 2. Auckland 3. Second heat: St. George’s 1. Auckland (No. 2; 2. Mercer 3. Single Sculls Skeates Cup,: R. B Smith (Auckland) 1.
