TOURISTS FROM OVERSEAS PROVINCIAL GAMES URGED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) NAPIER, Saturday A suggestion that overseas Rugby teams should play matches against North Island and South Island teams in provincial towns was adopted by the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union last evening and will be forwarded as a recommendation to the New Zealand Union. The Eskview Club, in forwarding the suggestion, stated that the matches, being major attractions in the provincial centres, would be financial successes and would give the selector an opportunity of seeing players in action whe may not have been fit during the trials earlier in the season. Tel. r pyrigh: (Received April 2, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 2 The New South Wales Rugby Union has agreed to the New Zealand Union’s request for a limitation of their Australian tour to five playing Saturdays. The proposed match against Victoria at Melbourne has been eliminated to make the reduction. New South Wales regards It as essential for five Saturday matches to be allotted to Sydney and Brisbane. Victoria was anxious for a match, but was willing to forego it to meet New Zealand’s wishes.
