THE REVENUE DEPARTMENTS INCREASE IN ESTIMATES lOmclal Wireless) RUGBY, March 31 The Estimates for the Revenue Departments total £91,086.700, representing an increase of £3,962,325 over 1937.. The totals for the individual services are: Customs and excise, £6,065,200; inland revenue. £3,219.500; Post Office. £76,302,000, being an increase of £3,574.000 over last year, of which salaries account for in increse of £1,573,600 and debt nnuities an increase of £1,083,164. Stamp duties, chiefly owing to the heavy decline in Stock Exchange business, fell £5,000,000 below the estimate. Defence expenditure from the Budget and from borrowing totalled £262,000,000, an increase of £76,000,000 over the previous year.
