FALSE DECLARATIONS LAND AND INCOME TAX PENALTY ON HAIRDRESSER (By Telegraph.—press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday. ; “ Thla is one of the most serious cases of Its kind that has come before this court for many a day,” said Mr Q. 8. Meredith, proceeding In the Magistrate’s Court to-day on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Taxes against Monte William Bernard Winter, ladles’ hairdresser, whose business was described by Mr Meredith as “ one of the most flourishing and fashionable of Its kind In Auckland.” There were four separate charges of wilfully making false declarations under the Land ■>nd Income Tax Act and a further charge under the Employment I romolion Act of instructing or hindering an inspector. Alternative changes under the Land and Income Tax were withdrawn. On the of the tax charges Mr C. R. Orr Walker, F.M.» imposed a n ne of £IOO.
