VAGRANT IN PARK
WITH METHYLATED SPIRITS FIREMAN SENT TO PRISON ‘‘There has been too much loitering and drinking around Seddon Park lately,” said Mr G. >K‘. Sinclair, J.P., in the Police Court, Hamilton, to-day, when two men appeared before him charged with offences at the park. Described as an old offender, Senior Sergeant G. H. Lambert, who appeared for the police, Ernest Edward Walton (45), a fireman, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for being a rogue and a vagabond and a person previously convicted of being idle and disorderly. He elected to b*e dealt with summarily and pleaded guilty. The senior-sergeant said accused was before the Court recently when Mr Sinclair told him to leave town. Accused had not left town but remained here living the life of a vagabond. At the time of his arrest he was found in Seddon Park with a bottle of methylated spirits. “I think a term of imprisonment would clean him up and do him good,” said the senior-sergeant. A man who was in the company of the accused was charged as a first offender with being drunk. He was convicted and discharged.
