NEW STONE QUARRY

METAL FOR TE MIRO PLANT BEING INSTALLED Valuable deposits of grey wacke metal are to be opened up by the Waikato County Council at Te Miro when their new quarry' > s > n operation shortly. Inspection of the quarry was made * yesterday by county members, accompanied by the engineer, Mr A. A. Woodward, and the clerk. Mr C. F. E. Barton. Preliminary work on the face Is already under way and a bridge has been constructed at the base of the workings to give access. The quarry face is a considerable distance above the level of the roadway and it will be necessary to bring the metal down in buckets on a GOO foot wire rope. This will be worked so that the full buckets on the downward journey to the crusher will hoist the empty buckets to the quarry face. Electric power will be supplied for the machinery at the quarry When the metal reaches the lower end of the wire-rope conveyor it will enter the primary crusher and then pass to a second chip crusher. It Is estimated that the plant will have , tn output of 150 yards a day and will | supply all the metal needs of the district, which has hitherto been : without a source of suitable roa ling material The approximate cost of ( placing the quarry in working order.
