DEBARRED FROM DRIVING
YOUNG WOMAN SENTENCED (By Telegrnpn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday A verdict of guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy was returned by the jury in the Supreme Court at Wellington to-day in the case in which Violet Helen Maud Taylor, single (22), was charged with negligent driving causing death. The prosecution arose from an accident in Broadway, Miramar, on November 12, when Miss Kathleen Bensely Thornhill, who was crossing the street, was knocked down l)v a motor-car driven by accused. Miss Thornhill died In hospital three days later. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, said he had no hesitation in saying that lie thought the verdict undoubtedly was right. Accused’s license would lie suspended. She would be disqualified from taking out another licem tor seven years. “ 1 do not think it Is necessary to impose any fine or to make any further order,” said His Honour.
