TASMAN AIR MAIL
ENDING DEADLOCK AUSTRALIA’S DESIRE PREPARATION OF AGREEMENT UnU.'.i Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright MELBOURNE, Feb. 15 Early action to end the deadlock over the Tasman airmail service is proposed by the Commonwealth Government. It has been decided that the Minister of Defence, Mr 11. V. Thorbv, and the Postmaster-General, Mr A. j". McLaclilan, shall prepare a draft agreement to which the British, Australian and New Zealand Governments will be asked to become parties. It will follow the lines of the British-Australian agreement governing the England to Australia airmail service. The draft is being submitted to the other Governments for discussion by cable. By taking the Initiative the Commonwealth believes the suggestion current in New Zealand that Australia is apathetic may be withdrawn. It is believed the agreement proposes a control company, representing the three Governments, but not subject to Government domination.
