Feb. 15 The supplementary Civil Estimate of £981,00u indicates for the first time the heavy cost of the Chinese and Spanish wars to Britain. The items include £10.600 expenses of the Non-intervention Committee, £15.000 • rovei the more costly diplomatic services. £13.000 for the evacuation ot British people from China, £33.000 foi evacuations from Spain, and £SOOO for hospitality during the Imperial Conference.
