UNFORTUNATE BROADCAST ATTACK ON HITLER ALLEGED A MINISTER'S RETORT United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, Feb. 12 A story to the effect that Herr Hitler had been shot repeatedly swept the City yesterday, especially the Stock Exchange. It prompted an emphatic official denial from Berlin, where there is resentment at. Thursday night's broadcast by the British Broadcasting Corporation of news from Germany. The official denial stated, inter alia: “ The compilation of this news was not without direction.” The Warsaw' correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that Polish newspapers, in spite of official German denials, continue to assert that the internal situation in Germany is critical. They say that the German Army's dissatisfaction at the recent political and military changes is widespread. “ A Minister’s Manner ” According to the Berlin correspondent of the News Chronicle Herr Brendt said: “ Do you doubt the word of the German Government? Do you think we are liars? What would you say if I were to spread a rumour that your Princess Juliana’s baby was not really hers?” The remark was later described in Dutch diplomatic circles as “ typical of German manners.” A message from Berlin says it is reported that Marshal von Blomberg, who is on his honeymoon, has been ordered not to return to Germany for a year. Herr Hitler has promoted nine generals and one colonel, five of whom are members of the aristocracy, increasing the number of changes in the higher ranks to 60 as the result of the purge.
