Davies, resulted in the Labour Party retaining the seat. Details are:— Votes Arthur Pearson (Lab.) ... 22,155) Lady Rhys Williams Lib., . 14,810 Majority for Labour .. 7,340 There has been no election for the Pontypridd sent since October, 1931. the late Mr Davies, who was first elected in March of that year, being returned unopposed in 1935. At the October eleclion he was returned with a majority of 7814 over his Liberal opponent Mr B. Acworth.
