PETER PAN’S LETTER

J)EAR GIRLS AND BOYS, Wandering through the garden In the golden sun- I shine Is a splendid pastime Peter finds, with fresh treasures to be found i at every step and flowers of rarest beauty everywhere. Such a lovely picture the lawns are too after the Weather Man's fit of the Mlserables last week-end, for they are looking very fresh and green after the rain. Just Inside the white gate Peter finds growing beside the dark green hedge a fairy forest of golden rod about which the bees sing their own quaint songs all day and beneath It there bloom golden marigolds, bright and gay amid their deep green leaves. Along the drive the rose pink oleander tree is bursting Into bloom and beside It the magnolia tree with Its large, fragrant flowers shining like silver In the sun, makes a beautiful picture. There is a patch of scarlet geraniums and deep red oarnatlons growing side by side and Peter wonders what secrets those little flower people ore sharing as they nod their heads tegether In the gentle breeze. From the feathery green leaves of the pepper tree there falls a cascade of sweet music as the birds sing their praises of Summer and all her beauty and as Peter walks along he sees a bed of scarlet salvias, Just beginning to fade, In the centre of an emerald lawn and further along with their blue and white spike flowers and agapanthus bushes lift their heads from deep, green spiky leaves and shy little hydrangea trees droop their misty blue heads beside a brick wall. And as Peter gazes at the beauty all around him he wonders how anyone could be unhappy with the wonderful gifts that Mother Nature has given to us all. The Twins are not enjoying school in the slightest ’cause Jenne says they have a new teacher and there Is no mischief to be found anywhere so they would much more prefer to be on Uncle Andy’s farm where there are such lots of things to do. Peter thinks that they must be very naughty little people at school although the Sunshine Girl says that they are really very good and only tell Peter these stories to hear him scold them. The other morning No-One and Somo-one, who have been out for their morning stroll every day this week, told Peter that they had seen lots and lots of pearly white mushrooms growing, so the Wendy Person, the Sunshine Girl and Peter got up very early one morning and went mushrooming. Such a lovely time they had too, walking through the dew drenched grass, which shone like diamonds as the sun rose, and gathering all the mushrooms Into a big basket. And what a lovely feast they had when they arrived home. The Twins were very annoyed when they heard that the Circle people had gone without them but they soon forgave them when they were allowed to have an extra helping of those delicacies. And now gay gardens and lots of sunshine to you all with baskets of mushrooms and blackberries for your very own selves. With lots of love, From your happy ■ —j
