suicide while the balance of Tribe's j mind was disturbed were returned. Tribe’s brother-in-law, Dr. John Dancy, said that Tribe was living apart from his wife. He had been a heavy .drinker since receiving head injuries ! in the War. He had lost one eye and | was losing the sight of the other, j The witness and his wife had been giving him eye injections. Tribe-had at times threatened to harm Mrs Dancy, but was always sorry afterwards. There had been some altercation the night before the tragedy, and Tribe threatened the witness’ life.

About midnight when his wife had gone to bed, lie was sitting in his study when he heard shots. •• 1 saw my brother-in-law coming from the bathroom, which communicates with my wife's bedroom,” continued the witness. "He was advancing towards me with a revolver in his hand pointing to my head. I put the lights out and dropped to the floor in one movement. He fired at ine as I fell, dropping his aim, and 1 lay on the ground foxing. I lay on the floor for a few seconds thinking before he switched the light on. He looked at me and 1 groaned. He thought he had got me, so he walked to the lavatory and locked himself in. I got up and" banged on the lavatory door and said: ‘Gome out, Maurice. Give me that gun.' He said: ■ Stand away from those panels or 1 will shoot you down like a dog.' ” After rousing the housekeeper the witness said he forced the lavatory door and found Ti ibe had cut his throat with a razor.
