Misses M. and N. Beverley were leading 6—3, I—o. A feature of play in the afternoon was the fine displays of Miss M. Glenny, of Hawke's Bay, in the combined doubles and ladies’ doubles. She drew frequent rounds of applause from the gallery for clever placements and a fine exhibition of positional play. Although she and Miss Plummer were one set down against Misses M. and N. Beverley in the women’s doubles final, Miss Glenny played an outstanding game, and with Miss Plummer giving good support the match up to the time of interruption was more even than the score suggests. coupled with Miss Margaret Beverley's strong forehand driving, gave the Matainata pair the lead up to the time when play ceased. D Livingstone met with strong opposition from M. Andrews in Ihe men's singles semi-final and the third set went to the twentieth game before Livingstone clinchrd the match. Andrews served well throughout and managed to keep Livingstone from the net, where the latter was always dangerous. Livingstone volleyed and drove well, and it was pleasing to see him going for his shots even when he a placing ball wide. His determination to force the play all the way undoubtedly saved the match from going further lhan the third set. D. C. Coombe displayed his best form of the tournament to date in the men's doubles semi-final, In which he. and Clow beat L. Roach and Matuschka in straight sets. The Wellington man troubled both his opponents with his high bounding service, while his overhead work was immaculate.
