POLO AT CLAUDELANDS

PROVINCIAL CUP FINAL TWO FABT GAME? TO-MORROW DOMINION CHAMPIONS DEFENDING A fast exhibition of polo should be seen at Claudelands to-morrow on the Showgrounds field, when the final of the Auckland Provincial Polo Cup will be played between Cambridge A and Glen Murray. The game should he of particular interest to followers of the galloping game. Teams from Morrinsvtlle and Matangi mepf in the final game for the junior cup competition earlier in the afternoon. AH four finalists have been successful in the eliminating rounds played at Glen Murray northern territory) and at Matamata (southern territory). Owing to the necessity of conserving the polo ground at Claudelands for the Savile Cup tournament which, in the sequence of venues, comes to Hamilton next month, the Provincial Association has had to forego its annual tournament and to limit its operations to playing the final games only on the central ground. The junior cup contest should result in a close game, as the oompeting teams are evenly matched and well mounted. In last year's tournament the Glen Murray team romped home in the junior cup competition, and in the senior grade were beaten by Matamata A by the narrow margin of one goal. It is understood that they are a much improved team this year and are as well mounted as their opponents. The Cambridge team, by annexing the Savile Cup at Feilding in 1936 and again at Christchurch in 1937, has proved itself to he the premier combination in New Zealand- It* will be interesting to see whether the Glen Murray players can extend the champions. The teams are as follows: Matangi.—L. Ghltty, j. r. Ranstead, G. Hewlett and R. G. Townsend. Morrinsvilie.—D. Mellow, R. Douglas, J. Klaus, F. Klaus. Glen Murray.—E- Allen, C. Gaskell, J. K. Atchison, E. S. Allen. Cambridge.—R. Nolan, R. Peake, C. G. Vosper, K. Peake.
