MUSICIANS’ INTERESTS
MEETING OF UNION SOUTH AUCKLAND AFFAIRS The first annual meeting of the South Auckland branch of the New Zealand Musicians’ National Union was attended by a very representative gathering, musicians being present from Hamilton and the surrounding districts which are controlled by the branch.
A resume of the first year’s working was given by the president and it was very evident that much had been done to improve the conditions of musicians. It was very pleasing to note that very few mu-sicians or bands were not showing an interest in the union’s aims and in the near future it was hoped that all musicians would be members of the union. The balance-sheet, which showed a substantial credit in hand for the first year’s operations was adopted.
The election of officers for the 1938 season resulted: President, Mr G. J. Brown; secretary and treasurer, Air E. J. Dold; committee, Messrs J. Allan, W. Mclntosh, \V. Mayall; auditors, L. Ilansen and F. Haughey. The president was elected the delegate to the Waikato district trades council. A hearty vote of thanks to the secretary was carried, for the very able manner in which lie had carried out his duties during the year.
