Hindin continued his successes in the New Zealand chess congress on Friday and Saturday, scoring two more wins, of seven gam«*s played he has won live and drawn two and now has six points. His nearest rivals are F. K. Kelling Wellington) and D. Lynch Hastings), wbo each have 44 points. Results are as follows: — Championship Fifth Round: Lang beat Newick. Seventh Round: Hindin beat Burry, Lynch beat Newick, Kclling beat McDermid. Dunlop beat McNabb, Erskine drew* with Belton. Eighth Round: Hindin beat Hunter, Kelling beat Lynch, Belton drew* with Severne. Premier Reserve. Sixth Round: McMillan beat Hewitt. Eighth Round: Lang beat Hewitt, Christebsen beat Turner. Allen beat Langley, Fterry beat McMillan. Ninth Round: Langley beat McMillan. Turner beat Hewitt, Lang beat Sterry. The unfinished game in the fifth round, McDermld v. McNabb, was carried to the 75th move this morning, when the players consented to a draw. With three round? vet to be played S. Hindin Canterbury retains his lead in the New* Zealand chess congress. but he had to play the hardest game of the r.->nere>s to-n!cht when he met H McNabb Nelson . At the adjournment he was in danger of beinc beaten for the first time, but he is still in a very strong position, being a full point ahead of J. B. Dunlop .
