BATHING BELLE CONTEST

“MISS NEW ZEALAND” TITLE WON BY MISS MARCIA HART NAPIER, December ‘2B. Ten finalists paraded before the judges at the Sound Shell, Napier, in the bathing belle competition to discover "Miss New Zealand. ’’ The competition drew 19 entries of Napier and visiting girls, the winner being Miss Marcia Hart, of Napier, who xvon the £SO offered for first prize in the competition and special prizes. The entrants were reduced by an elimination contest in the afternoon to ten, and those remaining were placed by the evening's judging as follows: Miss Marcia Hart J, Misses Jean Lee and Valayo des Landes equal *2, Miss Maisie Amner -i, Miss Margaret Simmonds 5, Miss Dorothy Lambert 6, Miss Joan Sommerville 7, Miss Joyce Barber 8, Miss Olive Dixon 9, Miss Rosalie Green 10.

A prize for the entrant with the. most beautiful eyes was xvon by Miss Constance Merson, who was presented with a silver cup. A special prize to the winner was presented in the form of one of the latest designs in American swim suits.

The finals attracted a great deal of public interest as reflected in the attendance. All available seats were sold, and a dense crowd lined the pavement and the area on the seaward side of the enclosure.
