RONGOMAI WINS RANFURLY The summer carnival of the Auckland Trotting Club was continued at Alexandra Park yesterday when one of the many interesting features of the programme was the decisive success of the Auckland Cup victor, Willow Wave, in the Champion Handicap. T. Paul, Mangere. It was with a courageous finishing run that J. T. Paul prevailed in a desperate finish with Adversity. Adversity hit the front in the early part and was showing out over the first half-mile from Roman Chief, True Trust and Fisher. As the field was entering the straight, Roman Chier broke and interfered with Atarau King and Royal Doulton, both of whom lost considerable ground. Passing the stands, Adversity was still in charge from Ann Pointer, with a gap of Tour lengths to True Trust, Fisher, Bold Venture and Young Pointer. Racing along the back. Adversity had drawn out three lengths Trom Ann Pointer, with four lengths to True Trust and Bold Venture, but a little further on Ann Pointer began to tire and Adversity was in charge into the straight from Young Pointer, True Trust and Bold Venture, with a gap to Petite Jewel and Ann Pointer. In the straight, Bold Venture came through to carry on and win narrowly by a head Trom Adversity, who beat Young Pointer by two and a half lengths. Roe, Mangere. Mute early established a big break on the field and within half a nnlc was 15 lengths out from Manna’s Son, Great Sonoma and Kuini. Racing past the stands, Mute was showing out live lengths in front of Manna’s Son, with Kuini six lengths away and Elissa and Wah following. Mute was still In charge -along the back and turned for home In front of Manna’s Son and Kuini. Nothing had a chance with Mute in the run home and he won well by a length and a half from Manna's Son, who beat Kuini by four lengths. Wah was fourth, then came Elissa, and Great Sonoma. Racing past the stands Lucky Love and Chili Bean were abreast In Trout ol' Bedford, Royal Jewel, Bronze Queen, Young Pointer, Lady Amanda anil Hearsay. Going along the back, there was no alteration whatever in the order and as the field levelled up for home Lucky Love and Chili Bean were showing out rrom Young Pointer, Bedford, Hearsay and Ropata, the latter having Improved his position. In an exciting finish, Young Pointer prevailed by half a head over Royal Jewel, who beat Ropata by bair a length. Bedford was fourth, followed by Bronze Queen, Mount Flight and Eyre.
