FIRST TO NERIHANA CROCUS WINS BLEDISLOE LAWN DERBY’S SUCCESS (Special from "Padlock.”) AUCKLAND, Friday The summer meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club was concluded at Alexandra Park, Epsom to-day. before a large attendance. .Nerlhana led throughout to win decisively and return over a score on the win machine. John’s Last paid more for a place than did the winner straight out.
i Axminster, Harlow, Great Gem and John’s I Last were slotV to settled down and NerlI hana soon ran into the lead showing out over the early part rrom Kete Kura, Wall Street, Captain Scott and Worthy Song. At the end of a circuit, Nerlhana was still setting the pace rrom Worthy Song. Kete Kura, L’enuku, John's Last, Roma Girl, Gipsy Light, Blue Crest and Captain Scott. Nerlhana was followed along the back by Kete Kura. Utmuku. Worthy Song. John's Last, Roma UTrl and Sequoia. Nerlhana was the first to turn for home, clear or Uenuku, John’s Last, Roma Girl, Sequoia and Trauan. Nothing had a chance with Nerlhana in the run home and he won easily by three lengths rrom John’s Last, who beat Sequoia by a neck. Petite Jewel was rourth, then came Uenuku. Winner trained by owner, Foxtou. Walngake frave an improved performance to lead throughout and win comfortably from Elissa who ruined her winning prospects by breaking on several occasions. Golden Maid. Bingen Sun and Autumn Lou were slow to go and Walngake led early rrom Pink Lady. Baby Triumph, Golden Main, Great Sonoma and Elissa. Passing the stands, Walngake was out three lengths from Pink Lady with Golden Maid Tour lengths away followed !*• Elis?a, Baby TriumpU. Manna's Son anti Kuinl. The next time past the stands Walngake was still leading rrom Pink Lady and Elissa who was breaking. Along the back for the last time, Walngake had established a break of six lengths over Pink Lady and Elissa and was still clear at the home turn from Elissa and Pink Lady. Carrying on Walngake won well by three lengths from Elissa with Prnk Lady live lengths away third. Then came Manna’s Son, Autumn Lou and Bingen Son. Times, 4.40. 4.3 4 2- 4.36 3-5, 4.32. At the distance it appeared that Nawton Parrish would carry the day, but Crocus came again to hold off the favourite safely on the post. Young Pointer was the first to show out and led early from Red Frontier, Gay Sister, Sir Frank, Nawton Parrish and Ann Pointer. Racing past the stands again, Starwyn had assumed command and was clear here from Activity, sir Frank, Youmr Pointer, Nawton Parrish, Great Chum, Musketeer and Crocus. Racing along the back on the final circuit Young Pointer had run up behind Starwyn ami tills pair was followed by Sir Frank. Winaway and Nawton Parrish. Crocus then began to move up and approaching the turn was in charge from Great Chum, Sir Frank, winaway and Nawton Parrish. It was a tine flplsh In which Nawton Parrish and Crocus fought it out. Crocus withstanding the determined challenge of Nawton Parrish to beat the Hamilton horse by a head. Gay Sister was third, two and a-half lengths away, with Great Chum rourth in front of Red Frontier and Sir Frank. Times: 3.17 2-5, 3.18 3-5, 3.21 3-5 and 3.21. At the start Bonny Azure set out to make a fast pace and over the early part was In charge from Lucky Jack, Tempest, King's Warrior and Lawn Derby. WillowWave at this stage being a bad last. As they raced past the stands Honnv Azure was three lengths out rrom Lucky Jack with King’s Warrior handily placed in front or Tempos', who was leading Lawn Derby by about eight lengths. Two lengths further back was Rol I’Or. with Indianapolls, following eight lengths behind.
