Copyright MELBOURNE, Dec. 30 Ruby Finch, aged 26, and lan Hayman. aged 17, were killed to-.lav when a ritie bullet accidentally struck and . exploded a coalmine magazine at Kilcunda Beach, near Wonthaggi. The woman’s body was hurled nearly 100 yards into the sea and the youth’s body was flung for 80 yards. The pair were holiday-making at Kilcunda and went shooting, it is believed a bullet fired at a rabbit struck the magazine, which contained 12 cases of gelignite. It was situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There was a terrific explosion, which partly destroyed two wooden dwellings, the occupants of which suffered only minor injuries. The noise was heard two miles away.
