DEAD IN A HORSE STALL

(By Telegraph.—Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Thursday Found unconscious in a horse stall at Awapuni this afternoon, Clifford Plier (18), an apprentice jockey, was taken to hospital, where he died. Plier, was involved in an accident at Napier recently when he was thrown from a horse. SOLICITOR DROWNED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Thursday Mr Charles Mitchell Barnett (32), a well-known solicitor of Dunedin, was drowned at Warrington this afternoon, when a canvas canoe, in which he had ventured into the breakers capsized. Efforts at rescue failed. Deceased leaves a widow and two children.
