BEAUTY RESOLUTIONS “For your New Year’s resolution, make a compFete set of beauty rules,’’ advises Irene Dunne, charming movie star. “Endeavour to adhere to them right throughout 1938,’’ she continues, “and you will be thrilled with the vast difference in your appearance.” The following are half a dozen rules which are the real foundation of natural beauty:— Endeavour to -snatch seven or eight hours’ sleep every night, for a rested mind and a rested body are a great help towards acquiring perfect features. Using a simple cold cream, remove all traces of the day’s make-up before retiring. Brush your hair well before preparing for the night’s rest. Many girls neglect the brush in place of the comb with the fear of disturbing their waves, but when properly handled brushing strengthens the waves and gives the Endeavour to rise half an hour earlier and go for a good brisk walk, or, In the summer, for a splash in the surf. This stimulates the blood and gives one a healthy appetite for breakfast. Choose your food with care, and If possible partake of good, simple, home cooking, resisting highly seaj soned dishes, which play havoc with I the complexion. Refrain fr'om going to extremes In dress, and avoid conspicuous makeI up, but dress lo suit yourself, and apply vour cosmetics with restraint. Miss Dunne is one of 1 lie most beautiful stars on the screen, and she atIrilmtes her clear complexion and coinplele health lo Ihe I’ael that she makes a point of regularly following the above routine.
