LARGE-SCALE PRODUCTION ANOTHER STUDIO PROBABLE ■* BENEFIT OF BRITISH QUOTA United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, Dec. 29 Mr Stuart F. Doyle, the Australian film producer, is going to Australia to engage in large-scale film production in association with British interests. He said that this had been made possible by the amendment of the New South Wales Quota Act, and by the new British Quota Act, which the Government had refused to alter in such a way as to enable tiie exclusion of Australia, as certain sections of the British trade desired. Mr Doyle added; "In order to secure the benefit of the British quota, Australian producers need to spend £7500 sterling on each film for labour alone, as bigger Dims are necessary.” Mr Doyle proposes to use the existing studios, but, if necessary, to build another studio in Sydney, lie will saiJ immediately, and travel via New York and Hollywood, where he will arrange for visits to Australia by players who are popular iu both Britain and Australia. A Theatre In Glasgow The High Commissioners for all the Dominions agreed, at a conference with Mr \V. E. Elliot, the Secretary of State for Scotland, lo contribute toward the erection of a theatre in Glasgow l'or the exhibition of Empire films. The total cost will be £9OOO. Australia's and New Zealand's shares will be less than £250 each, which they hope to recoup from the receipts.
