BIBLE AND SHAKESPEARE BOND OF COMMON SERVICE (From a Correspondent) LONDON, December 1 Major-General Sir Frederick Maurice, addressing the American Legionaries in London this week, declared that Shakespeare and the English version of the Bible were sufficient to keep any two English-speaking peoples together. Sir Frederick, who is president of the British Legion, said that they were linked by the bond of common service during the Great War, 1 it there were even more enduring links between Britain and the United States. They were bound by history, law, common institutions and literature. Times must come when their interests j diverged, but the lies that bound them were strong enough to stand the strain.
