CAMERA STUDIES IN MANY COUNTRIES
JACK TAR GOES SIGHT SEEING. — I'hg ruins of ancient Pompeii have attracted tourists from all parts of the world, and members of the crew of B.if.S. Vindictive, which made a call at Naples on a recent cruise, found time to inspect and admire this historic spot. The picture shows the party at the base of the statue of a Roman Centurian. The guides’ reoital, it would appear, is amusing as well as informative.
ENOIGn TO STOP ANY COLD. — The intense cold of winter presents a problem at the London Zoo, where codliver oil is used not too sparingly as a means of preventing colds. The unfortunate pelican, noted for the carrying capacity of its beak, is being liberally treated by one of the keepers.
WELSH DOLLS FOR THE PRINCESSES. —Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose are shortly to be the recipients of little Welsh dolls, the gift of the children of Caernarvon. The presentation will be made by Mrs. Lloyd George. Here Miss Marian Williams, wearitvg Welsh costume, is seen holding the dolls which are dressed in traditional Welsh fashion for presentation to the Princesses..
MILADY’S FUTURE HANDBAGS. —Los Angeles is noted for many things other than film stars and beautiful homes. A very profitable occupation is the breeding of alligators, of which there are several farm colonies in the vicinity of the city. This view of an alligator farm is interesting—from outside the fence. The streamlined effect of the two in the foreground is worthy of note.
AN OLD GREEK CUSTOM. —For centuries the Greeks have followed a custom at,weddings necessitating the bride and bridegroom travelling on horseback. Here is a view of the happy couple on their way to their home after the wedding ceremony which was performed at Havarin, in the Greek Archipeligo. The bridegroom appears to be having a busy time dodging the tree branches.
SPIC AND SPAN. —Members of the creto of B.MJS. Glasgott engaged in polishing some of the vessel’s battery of six inch gnus. The Home fleet has recently been strengthened by the addition of four cruisers of the Southampton class, of 9000 tons, of which the Glasgow, built at Greenock, is one.
