WOMAN’S SECOND TRIAL

ALLEGED ILLEGAL OPERATION THREE CHARGES PREFERRED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Gertrude Grace Taylor, married, was tried this morning for a escond time on three charges of using means to procure a miscarriage. Last week Taylor was jointly charged with Agnes Burns. The jury found Burns guilty, adding a strong recommendation to mercy but disagreed in Taylor’s case. A feature of to-day’s hearing was that Agnes Burns took the witness-box to testify against Taylor. The Crown case was that two girls had been operated on in Burns’ house, Taylor performing the actual operation and Burns acting as a nurse and collecting fees. (Proceeding.)
