TE MATA NOTES.

KITCHEN EVENINQ. A very successful kitchen evening was tendered Miss Nora Swann recently by the Ruapuke residents, in the old schoolroom, which since the new school was built is used as a dancing hall- There was a. large attendance of friends, Mr W. Thomson being M.C. Miss Mildred Thomson presented Miss Nora Swann and her mother with bouquets on their arrival at the hall. Dancing was much enjoyed, and music was played by Mr and Mrs Cartwright and Mr W. Thomson. After supper Mr Wallace Thomson spoke highly of the guest-of-honour. He was followed by Mr Peter Liddell as the oldest resident of the district, after which Miss Swann opened the many gift parcels. Mr J. Murrell suitably returned thanks, and musical honours were accorded. Dancing then continued and a novelty dance was won by Miss Ward and Mr R. Swann.
