PIG AND POULTRY FOOD. FARMERS BLAME DUTIES. The question of the excessive prices for pig and poultry food was dealt with at the New Zealand Farmers’ Union conference In Wellington this week. Mr J. 11. Furniss, of Ihe Waikato sub provincial executive, who returned to-day, said that a resolution was passed advocating that all duties on supplementary foods for pigs and poultry he removed. The matter was subsequently discussed between representatives of the wheat growers and the dairy industry. An attempt was being made lo solve ihe problem which, while allowing for cheap supplies of grain for pig and poultry use, would afford reasonable protection to the wheat and barley growers of the South Island.
