RUBBER WON. SPRINGBOKS' VICTORY. AUSTRALIA WELL BEATEN. SYDNEY, Saturday. With the day made to order and the conditions ideal the touring Springboks showed their paces to-day when they played really brilliant football to defeat Australia by 26 points to 17. Australia were beaten in the first Test by the visitors by nino points to five. To-day the Springboks started off with a rattle, scoring within a minuto when the forwards wheeled the scrum over the line, and from then to the half-time they piled on points with excellent football, throwing the ball about in fine style. They changed direction on attack frequently and had Australia well on the run. Tne visitors had all the better of the play and when half-time was called they had scored six tries, four try and a free kick by Australia. Brand was playing a magnificent game, driving the Australians back Although the Springboks had the best of the first spell the Australians came with a rush right from the start of the second half and they held the upper hand practically throughout scoring three tries one of which was converted. For the last twenty minutes the home team wqs short, Towers going off injured but they put up a great battle and were within striking distance of the Springboks when the final whistle blew with the scores: South Africa . 26.
