Dairy Pedigrees. While there is now a fairly general rule to give milk as well as the butterfat production of cows, many breeders of pedigree dairy cattle still confine the particulars of production of the dams of their bulls to a mere statement of the butter-fat record. Att he present, time many farmers are thinking as much of milk as of butter-fat production as they are fndlng that pig production is well worth while. And there Is quite a general impression that If a cow gives a high test she cannot give high milk production. There are heavy milking strains in nil breeds, and these strains can be developed either for ndlk or fat as the owner desires, that Is bv the use of sires descended from milk or fat strains. And while there are high milking strains in the high testing breeds so all the cows of the lower testing breeds are riot heavy milking animals. Undoubtedly some breeders have lost good sales by not living the milk yield in the female hacking of their bulls offered at re~ent sales, for naturally the fanner buyer is inclined to think that if the milk production is not given it is nothing to boast about.
