WOMEN’S DIVISION.

CONFERENCE CONCLUDES. MANY REMITS ADOPTED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The annual conference of Ihe Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union concluded to-day. Mrs Hebbard (Taihapo) and Mrs Poison (Wanganui) were re-eleoted lo the advisory committee of the Bush Nurse and Housekeeper Auxiliary. Other officers elected were:—Finance committee, Mesdanies Mathleson. McNeil, Preshaw (Wellington) and Hawthorn (Upper Ilutt) ; Pan-Pacific Conference. Mrs Jackson; war relief committee, Mrs Lundlus; Red Cross Society, Mrs Angus; co-ordinating committee, Mcsdames Drake, Barrer and Noel Adams. Remits were carried supporting the Immigration scheme; requesting ithe Government to'expand the scheme of Interest-free money, allowing fanners to build houses for f farm workers; asking that the basic wage should be made more equitable by providing for man and wife and adding thereafter an allowance for caoh child; urging the Government to make an effort to reduce overhead costs In distribution within cities; requesting that, where a woman Is a breadwinner she should have the same right, as a man in sharing any advantages of legislation; advocating stricter supervision of the selling of liquor; desiring legislation for the training and employment of suitable women as police officers; and urging that nurses’ hours of work should be modified to permit of more study*
