Ormsby-Goro Informed Mr Arthur Henderson that when the New Zealand solar eclipse party arrived at Canton Island it found the United States tender Avocet anchored there. The captain of the Avocet intimated that the United States did not admit British sovereignty over the island. The position thus disclosed is now being considered.
